Sunday dinners used to include me standing in the kitchen preparing a meal so we all could sit down and enjoy each other company while eating something not from a to go container.
The family sitting in the living room watching our faithful San Francisco 49’s take to the field hoping that this year would be our year. The smell of a hearty beefy veggie soup simmering on the stove, waiting for the bread to finish baking, and listening to the arguing about who is the “GOAT” for NFL Quarterbacks.
Sundays now are much quieter with the kids gone off in the world adulting. The conversations have turned to who else is going to be injured this year instead of who’s the greatest.
As I stand here in the kitchen making the same soup I’ve made a thousand times, beefy veggie, it makes me smile and remember that time goes by so fast and its so easy to forget the details. Yet a simple soup can bring back the “good ol days” of when my babies were little and complained there was too many veggies in it. I laugh now because looking down into my pot of mixed veggies and broth my kids might of been right….
I hope you have a meal or soup that bring a smile to your face and a warm memory to your heart. Life is short, enjoy the soup!
